RateKit provides free online business calculators including freelance rate calculators, financial planning tools, tax estimators, and startup metrics calculators. The service is provided "as is" at no charge.
3. Permitted Use
You may use RateKit for:

- Educational purposes
- Sharing results with colleagues, clients, or advisors
4. Prohibited Use
You may not:
- Scrape, copy, or reproduce our calculators for commercial redistribution
- Use automated tools to access our service at scale
- Attempt to reverse engineer or extract our source code for commercial use
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose

Important: RateKit calculators provide estimates for informational purposes only. They do not constitute financial, legal, tax, or accounting advice. Results are based on simplified assumptions and may not reflect your specific situation.

6. Accuracy of Calculations
We make every effort to ensure our calculators are accurate. However, we make no warranty that results are complete, accurate, or up to date. Tax rates, regulations, and financial rules change frequently. We are not liable for decisions made based on calculator outputs.
7. Intellectual Property
The RateKit name, logo, and website design are our intellectual property. Calculator methodologies and formulas are based on publicly available financial principles.
8. Limitation of Liability

9. Future Paid Features
We may introduce optional paid features (such as premium PDF exports or saved calculations) in the future. Core calculator functionality will always remain free. Paid features will be clearly marked and require explicit opt-in.

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of RateKit after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by applicable international law. Disputes will be resolved through good-faith negotiation.
13. Third-Party API Keys
Certain features of RateKit (such as Deal Coach) allow you to connect a third-party API key (e.g. Anthropic Claude API) to enable AI-powered functionality. Regarding these keys:
- We never store your API key on our servers. Keys are stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage and are never transmitted to RateKit's servers.
- We have zero access to your key. It exists only on your device.
- You are responsible for your key's security. Do not share your API key with others. If you believe your key has been compromised, revoke it immediately at your API provider's console.
- API usage costs. When you use your API key through RateKit tools, any usage costs are charged directly to your account with the API provider (e.g. Anthropic). RateKit receives no portion of these fees.
- Deleting your key. You can remove your stored key at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage or using your browser's developer tools.
